Something old, something new… How many markets have I walked and shopped at over these last 35 years? Once, twice, or more a week, let’s say an average of 1.5 times each week, winter and summer, is well over 2700 markets—each one an overflowing basket of fresh goods, a rolling basket of delicious ripe fresh content, changing season by season. If you imagine that almost every week, I discover, collect, and practice a new recipe, that would be at least 2000 recipes to share with you. That’s a lifetime of cooking as I learned about the food of France. I’ll add just a few more of my favorites this month of May to Finding France’s Recipe Files, including 25 other Finding France favorites for paying subscribers.
In addition to the infamous “First Rabbit” recipe, Lapin aux Pruneaux, in the earlier post here, consider the seasonal artichoke, a ham-based gratin recipe in honor of Kakou, and the quirky little guinea hen egg quiche inspired by a lucky find. Finish your Sunday supper menu with a strawberry galette featuring the rough puff pastry I perfected for my apple croustade.
