A Kid, New Potatoes, and Chocolate Easter Eggs for Everyone!
Champêtre: les Jours de Fêtes-Lundi de Pâques

It is now early Easter Monday—another Champêtre Jour de Fête, and I am waking with a cup of strong café au lait to share the festive makings of another holiday meal at Camont. These holiday gatherings have marked my years at Camont, where I've shared the generous table with old friends and new, inviting yet another last-minute couple of guests - the more the merrier. There is always enough food.
When I knew I was scheduled for a surgical procedure last Friday, I decided not to cancel the Easter Sunday lunch I had planned but to rally the troops and let the collective energy and resources of my good tribe around me carry the day. It was the right way to celebrate a win for good health and friendship as the Spring season comes alive with new life. I had a house full of talented residents and friends who jumped into the spirit like good easter bunnies. Resident Australian photographer Raquel Aranda (https://www.instagram.com/raquelarand.a/) documented the day and shared her photographs with us here.
In the delightful spirit of one of my favorite Substack newsletters— ‘s Receipt from a Bookshop, weekly documentarian extraordinaire, I want to share with you, my supporting subscribers, the mundane and banal as well as the highlights of a day at Camont, its three kitchens, the Relais de Camont creative residents, as well as the French country tribe that is part of my famille de coeur.
